The Addis Ababa Education Bureau is the one that has published the new curriculum textbooks that were implemented in the 2015 academic year and is providing them to both public and private schools.
The bureau said that the 1,350 private schools have not received the textbooks because they have not fully registered their students.
In addition, if private schools want to prepare supplementary textbooks other than textbooks, they are required to obtain approval and certification from the bureau; however, they will take action if they fail to do so.
The Addis Ababa Education Bureau, which announced that it has published the textbooks and is offering them for sale to private schools, said that only about 250 of the 1,600 private schools in the city have received the textbooks so far.
The office, which is still taking the books I have published, said that there is a procurement program in place for future schools; they can take them based on that.
