The Ethio-Djibouti Railway has announced that it will increase its speed from the central region to Djibouti, where the railway extends. 

 

The railway stated that it is inevitable to operate at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour. 

 

Claiming to handle 50 percent of the country’s economic imports and exports through this route, the railway said it will achieve this by maintaining a speed of 80 kilometers per hour. 

 

The railway has faced challenges due to frequent collisions with animals and compensation issues, causing delays for cargo trains. 

 

By addressing these and other challenges, the railway plans to facilitate 50 percent of the country’s import-export trade, it stated. 

 

Additionally, the Ethio-Djibouti Railway reported that its passenger transport service is being provided while maintaining cleanliness.
