**********

The Amhara National Movement (AMN) has solemnly held its 3rd regular conference; Dr. Beliko Mola as the party chairman and Ato Melkamu Tsegaye as the deputy chairman.

The Amhara National Movement (AMN) held its 3rd organizational conference in Addis Ababa today, March 28, 2017, and passed various resolutions during the conference.

In his opening speech, ABN Chairman Dr. Beliko Mola recalled the challenges the organization has faced since its establishment, the struggles it has faced, and the successes it has achieved.

In his opening speech, the chairman described the movement that his organization created by addressing the structural issues of the Amhara people as a great success; he also listed the challenges it faced from both inside and outside.

Dr. Beliko said that the main problem he mentioned in his speech was the incident of June 15, 2011, which left a black mark on the unity of the Amhara people's struggle. He also said that the organization has been severely tested internally due to the failure of the leadership and members to develop a relationship based on understanding and respect.

He also emphasized that the conference and the entire Amhara elite should learn from past problems and believe in differences of opinion, discuss and debate differences in a civilized way, and above all, respect and listen to each other.

One of the main issues mentioned in the Chairman’s speech was the historical nature of his organization’s struggle to resist the TPLF invasion. Dr. Beliko recalled that the TPLF’s hatred of the Amhara people had exceeded its limits and that it had committed atrocities during the invasion after it was ousted from power in a popular struggle, and praised the united struggle that was carried out with the broad Ethiopian people to reverse the invasion.

He then raised the security situation in the Amhara region after the war with the TPLF ended with a ceasefire agreement in Pretoria; and called for peace, saying that “the government and our armed brothers should sit around the table and talk to find a political solution to the conflict” to end the suffering of the people of the region.

After the Chairman’s opening speech, the assembly listened to and approved the organization’s report; Subsequently, Dr. Ayalew Talema was appointed as the chairman of the organization’s supervisory commission for the next term, and the deputy chairman and members were appointed, and the organization’s 40 permanent and 5 alternate central committee members were approved.

The meeting, which continued in the afternoon, held intensive discussions on various agendas. The newly elected council, for its part, appointed Dr. Beliko Molan as chairman and Ato Melkamu Tsegaye as deputy; and approved a total of nine members of the executive committee. Accordingly:-
