Ethiopia’s Nekemte coffee has earned the most revenue from coffee exported in the past eight months

#Ethiopia | Ethiopia has earned 1 billion 226.8 million US dollars from the 257,248 tons of coffee it exported to the foreign market in the first eight months of the 2017 fiscal year, the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority has announced.

The authority’s Public Relations and Communications Executive, Ato Sahle Mariam Gebremedhin, told Bisrat Radio and Television that Nekemte coffee accounted for the largest share of coffee exported in the first eight months of the same fiscal year.

He said that this coffee variety held the leading position by generating 327.66 million US dollars in revenue. He explained that this revenue was obtained from selling 86,327.63 tons of coffee to the market.

Following Nekemte, Ato Sahle Mariam, who stated that Sidama Coffee has a significant share, has sold 44,295.28 tons of coffee in eight months, earning 249 million US dollars.

In addition, by selling more than 49,956 tons of Jimma coffee to the foreign market, these coffee types have been able to occupy 1st to 3rd place.

It was reported that Saudi Arabia, Germany and the United States occupied 1st to 3rd place in the coffee sold in eight months of the 2017 fiscal year. It was stated that the players in the sector have played a significant role in recording good performance.
