Ethiopia is a land where more than 80 different nations, nationalities and peoples live, each with its own culture, religion, identity, language and history. Despite these differences, its citizens possess the most developed values of coexistence, solving problems together, respect, mutual aid and tolerance. As a result, the country and its people have been set as an example by the world community for centuries.
The home of many nations, nationalities and peoples, Amhara from Oromo, Tigre from Agou, Somali from Afar, Anewaku from Olayita....... A country that holds innumerable nations, nationalities and peoples with their beautiful culture. Being the home of many peoples with different beliefs, cultures and lifestyles, this diversity has been a manifestation of our beauty and strength for centuries. All these nations, nationalities and peoples have their own language; diet clothing rock me; They have a lifestyle.
Not only this, as our country is a country of many nations, nationalities and peoples, it also has different culture, language and history. All nationalities live with tolerance and respect on an equal level. These nations, nationalities, and peoples are wonderful people who have married, procreated, and slept with each other for many years.
The constitution of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia states that all nationalities are equal, and in order to celebrate and acknowledge the differences in unity, the day of the nation, nationalities and peoples of Ethiopia has been celebrated at the national level since 1998. The festival is being celebrated as a platform where the Ethiopian nation, nationalities and peoples can promote their culture and share their experiences.
This year's 18th Ethiopian Nationalities Day is being celebrated in Jigjiga and the festival is being celebrated for five consecutive days starting from November 25, 2016. Today is being celebrated as "Diversity Day" and cultural groups from different parts of Ethiopia are presenting their traditional performances.
The 18th Ethiopian Nation, Nationalities and People's Day, with the theme of "Diversity and Equality for National Unity", continues to be celebrated in Jigjiga city since yesterday.
