???? It is said that there are more than 400 thousand people in Ethiopia who need kidney dialysis
#Ethiopia The idea of a legal framework that would allow people to donate kidneys after death was drafted years ago; Recently, it has been submitted to the House of People's Representatives for approval, according to the kidney patients' dialysis charity.
The legal framework that allows the kidney to be taken after a person's life has passed by consenting to it while he is still alive is often approved; Dr. Salomon Asefa, the general manager of the organization, said that it was expected. He told Ahadu that it is expected to be approved by the House of Representatives soon.
The general manager added that the biggest problem of patients in Ethiopia is kidney failure. "Some don't have anyone to donate at all. The other one finds a kidney to donate, but it doesn't match in the examination. Besides, he is sick and doesn't want to take it from his family, so it's difficult to do a kidney transplant," he said.
"We are thinking of working hard on the kidney transplant of a person who has passed away," he said.
Also, among the kidney patients in the country, more than 400,000 are in need of kidney dialysis, the general manager, Dr. Salomon Asefe, told Ahadu.
Some of them struggle to save their lives by paying 30,000 to 45,000 birr per week for kidney dialysis. They also said that due to lack of money, they are washing only once, which they should do three times a week.
He stated that the challenge for kidney patients in Ethiopia is the lack of funds. He added that since resources are coming from outside, especially after the macroeconomic reforms, the patient is in serious trouble.
The general manager informed Ahadu that the free kidney dialysis service provided only in Addis Ababa St. Paulus, King Mnelik and Zewditu Hospitals is being expanded to other cities in the capital as well.
Anyone over the age of 40 and anyone under the age of 40 at least once a year; They also urged him to have a kidney test twice a year.
In addition, 60 percent of kidney failure in Ethiopia is due to diabetes and high blood pressure, so all people affected by this disease should be examined at least annually and follow up on their medication properly. They emphasized that they should implement the advice given to them by their doctor.
