The Minister of Justice, Hana Aryaslase, said that the rules for the transitional justice policy will be approved in the next three months. This will help them start working on it.

Last year, the Council of Ministers approved the Transitional Justice Policy. The Ministry of Justice has been doing many activities to follow the main ideas in the policy.

Today, the ministry held an international conference in Addis Ababa to discuss the draft laws needed to carry out the transitional justice policy.

At the conference, they presented and talked about the draft laws prepared for this purpose.

Minister Hana Aryaslase also mentioned that the laws needed to create important institutions for the policy are included in the plan.

She emphasized the need to create institutions that the community trusts and to include victims in the process.

ESA reported that the rules for implementing the transitional justice policy will be approved and put into action in the next three months.

Ababa Mbiale, Vice President of the Federal Supreme Court, said that Ethiopia's transitional justice policy is clear. He noted that the framework is made to achieve the goals of transitional justice.

 

International experts, including Paul-Simon Handy from the Institute for Continental Security Studies, attended the conference.
