Ethiopia’s time to leverage its investment opportunities and increase its export capacity: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD)

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) said that it is time to leverage Ethiopia’s investment opportunities, attract companies and increase its export capacity in the global trade game.

The Prime Minister also said that Ethiopia is working to increase its export capacity by learning from Vietnam, which has extensive export experience in attracting foreign direct investment and exporting its products.

Prime Minister Abiy also toured the operations of the Japanese Toyo Solar Manufacturing Factory located in Vietnam’s industrial village, one of the countries with the fastest-growing economies in Asia. 

The Prime Minister noted that Vietnam has a complete base for the manufacturing sector; he also said that Ethiopia is working to develop its industrial parks.

He also stated that the Japanese company Toyo Solar is producing solar panels and exporting them to many countries and is making a significant contribution to the growth of Vietnam's export revenue.

He said that efforts will be made to attract companies with the capacity and interest from Vietnam by promoting the favorable investment opportunities that Ethiopia has to produce desirable products in the world market and to attract them.

He said that the Japanese company Toyo Solar, which recently started operating in Hawassa Industrial Park, is working hard to transfer knowledge and technology and create job opportunities by producing solar panels and solar power.

The Prime Minister said that Ethiopia has a policy of non-polluting energy sources; he said that the efforts made by foreign companies to use this opportunity to enter and produce solar panels have been successful; this will continue to be strengthened in the future.
