His Holiness Abune Mathias, First Patriarch, Archbishop of Axum and Echege Zemenbere Teklehaimanot, has sent a congratulatory message to Pope Leo XIV.

 

In his message to Leo XIV, His Holiness expressed his heartfelt joy on behalf of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church at his election as Pope of the Catholic Church; "I would like to congratulate you," he said.

 

Abune Mathias, who pointed out that the problems of our country are increasing due to various challenges, said, "Since people and leaders chosen by God's power can easily overcome the problems and bear fruit; we hope that Your Holiness will easily overcome all the challenges and fulfill the mission of your church with greater success."

 

He added, "I wish that God will be by your side in all your service," according to information we received from the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Public Relations Department.
