The Ethiopian diaspora, especially in the U.S., has been a big driver, with folks like Leyat Endeshaw, a 16-year-old Ethiopian-American, raising smaller sums like $2,500 back in 2018. Even businesses, like TheEthiopianStore, chipped in with a 50,000 Birr donation tied to sales this past Christmas. The vibe is all about community—small donors, big hearts, and a mix of online buzz and real-world impact. They’ve also got creative, using local platforms like WegenFund and texting campaigns via Ethio Telecom to pull in contributions.
