It is known that our team, which participated in the 20th World Indoor Athletics Championships and finished third in the world and first in Africa, will return to their country tomorrow.

The head of the federation’s office, Ato Yohannes Gedawu, told Hattrick Sports that the Ethiopian Athletics Team, which won two gold and three silver medals, will arrive at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport at 1:00 AM and will be warmly welcomed by the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Ethiopian Federation, His Excellency Shewit Shanka, and senior leaders of the Athletics Federation.

After the hero’s welcome at the airport, a recognition and incentive award ceremony will be held at the Bellevue Hotel in Medanka, the head of the office told us over the phone.

When we asked the federation's office head, Ato Yohannes Gedawu, how much incentive money will be given to athletes who have brought honor to their country by winning gold and silver medals, he replied:

"I cannot tell you how much it is right now; by the way, the federation gives recognition more than awards; it is to say that we thank you for your achievements," the office head said. "Regarding the incentive prize, how much for gold? How much for silver and bronze, we implement what is stated in the guidelines; what the federation gives is not commensurate with the achievements of the athletes; it is very small; the biggest thing we give is recognition and gratitude; as we get sponsors in the future, we will try to give better rewards (incentives)," said the office head, Ato Yohannes Gedawu.
