Preserving and passing on culture and language to future generations are the hallmarks of a strong community, said Gedio Zone Chief Administrator Zinabu Wolde (Dr.).

 

The 'Dararo' cultural and language workshop, which is the turning point of the Gedeo ethnic group, is being held in Dilla town under the theme "Dararo for Unity, Development and Progress".

 

The Gedeo community is working to make the 'Dararo' festival, which contains the values ​​of gratitude, gift and unity, a world treasure beyond itself by properly preserving it, the zone chief administrator said.

 

The 'Dararo' festival is where the community thanks the Creator who ushered in a new era and receives blessings by presenting gifts to the elders. 

 

The festival is celebrated by the ethnic group's natives, and therefore has the role of strengthening social ties and unity.

 

Federal, regional and zonal leaders, as well as scholars and ethnic group members, are participating in the program, and it will be celebrated publicly in Dilla city on February 1, 2017 with various events.
