Ethiopian Airlines has announced that a photo of a woman's birthday party that has been circulating on social media was taken without the airline's management's approval.

 

The airline said in a statement that "a photo of a woman wearing various decorations on the runway was circulated; the woman was photographed on an aircraft that was parked for maintenance."

 

"The incident was taken without the airline's management's approval," it added.

 

"We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or negative perception this incident may have caused," the airline said, adding that "we are currently investigating the matter and corrective action will be taken against those who organized this event without following the airline's procedures."

 

Ethiopian Airlines said the public should be aware that the woman in the video did not receive any payment and that there is no contractual relationship with the woman.
