Addis Ababa-Djibouti corridor is going to be upgraded with 730 million dollars
The World Bank has announced that the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Corridor will undergo construction improvements.
As the bank announced yesterday, the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Corridor will be redeveloped according to the newly approved Horn of Africa Initiative Regional Economic Corridor Project.
It is said that this will play a major role in easily connecting the landlocked Ethiopia with the port of Djibouti and further strengthening the trade relations in East Africa.
The bank also announced that 730 million dollars from the International Development Association (IDA) will be used for the improvement project.
The Addis Ababa-Djibouti corridor is an important trade route and 95 percent of Ethiopia's export and import trade is carried out.
It was also stated that the improvement project aims to raise the level of the road leading to Djibouti, including the one from Dredawa to Meso.
It is said that the improvement of the level of this road will allow drivers traveling to Djibouti to travel more kilometers and avoid unnecessary harassment and loss of property.
The bank indicated that the Dredawa Meso road will also be upgraded to a four-lane expressway.
It is stated that the New Djibouti Corridor construction improvement project will promote social and economic development, reduce poverty and increase Africa's competitiveness in the global economy.
According to the bank, the project is believed to help improve Ethiopia's business competitiveness by improving logistics.
It is also believed that the project will increase the economic benefit of the communities in the areas where it is implemented by connecting them to the main road.
