Although a large number of literary people have emerged from the land of Ethiopia from yesterday to today, only a few of their stories are traditionally recorded. It is the duty of my generation to make many people who have done a great service for the country know them. The purpose of this article is to briefly read to the reader about the story of Harui Minas, one of the great artists who left their mark in the history of Ethiopian literature.
On one day in 1942, Mrs. Estezia Adelmaneh went into labor in Salt Sekla Maryam Kebele, Bichena District, Gojam Province. Come, he brought a boy. The baby was named King. My king saved Minas. Like any other village boy, Ngusei spent his childhood tending cattle. When he lost his soul, he went to his uncle Mergeta Jemburu Adan from a place called Mankorthiriya and started his religious education. Abugeda, after learning poetry until the eve and fast, he was employed and served the church. He started to make a living by buying the straw and sewing the ring with the salary paid in his time.
Later, in Gojam, Dima Giorgis enrolled with Chief Markos Zenda to improve his knowledge of poetry. Dima Giorgis is a church that has served for many years as the capital of the Orthodox Tewahedo community, producing great scholars. The monastery was founded and taught by the great ecclesiastical scholars, Abba Tekle Alfa Esek, Ayaleu Tamru. In addition to the four congregations (Bloyat, Hadith, Bibliotheca, and Book of Monks), poetry and music were also told in the tradition.
Let me return to my case, Harui Minas had a Gonder (native of Gonder) poetry roommate named Lisanu. He knew Addis Ababa before his tongue came to Dima Giorgis. At one point, Lsanu told Harui that if they go to Addis Ababa, they will get a better education and be able to get a good job. Hrui agreed with the idea. After the two poetry students walked to the city of Dejen, they realized that walking to Addis Ababa was tiring and time-consuming, so they said, "Slente Maryam" from the farmers' house in the low-lying settlement below Dejen. Asking (not begging) the name of Mary is the rule of the ecclesiastical student. The farmer of Dejan, who knows the system well and has respect for the teaching of the church, sold cotton to the Harui and gave it to them to use.
They sold the cotton they received from the farmers and earned money for transportation. They paid the fees to the broker and helper and traveled by truck to Addis Ababa. Addis Ababa Kechiene Madhanemalem passed away. At that time, to encourage poetry students, a person named Ape King Nasibu used to pay students three birr a month, so Harui Minas also earned three birr a month.
