Minister of Health, Dr. Makdes Daba, had a discussion with the President and CEO of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), David Miliband.

In this way, there was a discussion about how to make vaccination accessible in a sustainable way instead of a campaign, as well as the challenges faced in making access to medical services in conflict-affected areas.

Minister of Health, Dr. Makdes Daba, stated that Ethiopia wants to continue working in cooperation with the IRC to increase access to vaccines in conflict-affected areas.

He also asked IRC to support in improving the overall health system. 

According to the information of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Makdes has pointed out that it is important to provide support in a coordinated manner by avoiding a fragmented system.

David Miliband mentioned that the discussion raised actionable points; He stated that the IRC will continue to strengthen its support to the communities affected by the conflict in Ethiopia. 

He added that the IRC supports the Ministry of Health's efforts to provide access to health services and vaccines in conflict-affected areas.
