The Ministry of Agriculture has announced that effective work has been done in urban agriculture in the past five years.

In addition to increasing the production capacity of many people, the agricultural sector has also created job opportunities, said Seleshi Bekele, the Chief Executive Officer of Urban Agriculture at the Ministry of Agriculture.

He also said that a system is being developed to convert waste in the city into natural resources and use it for urban agriculture.

Addis Ababa is changing from its lifestyle 5 years ago, said Seleshi, the Chief Executive Officer of Urban Agriculture, especially in the production of eggs, meat, milk, and vegetables.

“We have also started to fully meet the demand for nutritious food that we have been struggling with as a country; and we have also started to work on fast-growing projects,” he said.

In relation to job creation, the CEO also spoke with FM Addis 97.1 about how it has created a source of income for women and youth.
