Strengthening Development Works Initiated to Consolidate the Prevailing Peace in Wollega is Essential - Dr. Legesse Tulu

Addis Ababa, February 16, 2017 (Fana Broadcasting Corporate) – Dr. Legesse Tulu, Minister of Government Communication Services, emphasized the need to focus on strengthening the development works initiated to consolidate the prevailing peace in Wollega.

The Minister, reflecting on the public conference and development works visit conducted in Wollega, shared a message on his social media page.

In his message, he noted that effective discussions were held with representatives from all four zones of Wollega and various segments of the community during the conference.

Alongside the discussions, he mentioned visiting development works in Nekemte City and the East Wollega Zone.

He stated that during both the discussions and the visit, it was observed that the people and the area of Wollega have transitioned from the damage caused by destructive forces in recent years to engaging in calm and peaceful development activities.

The Minister, noting that peace has been established in Wollega, highlighted that maintaining this peace should be the focus of everyone.

He remarked that development is the primary agenda for the community, and both urban and rural populations have turned their attention towards development.

He pointed out that the regional government and local administration are working to ensure that projects halted due to the problems created by destructive forces are resumed in an organized manner.

The Minister explained that the road connecting Bure to Nekemte, which had previously been stalled due to security issues, is now being accelerated.

He also mentioned that the industrial park being constructed by various stakeholders is progressing rapidly, noting that the industrial park being built in Nekemte has the potential to serve all four Wollega zones.

The Minister highlighted that significant corridor development works have begun in Nekemte City, and the irrigation work started in the districts of the East Wollega Zone is highly encouraging.

He mentioned observing coffee and avocado seedling preparation stations gearing up for the upcoming rainy season, indicating that coffee, banana, and avocado seedling preparation is in good condition.

He noted that Wollega is an area rich in coffee on the surface and precious minerals like gold, platinum, lithium, tantalum, and marble beneath, as well as having significant potential in crop and livestock production.

He emphasized that by consolidating the current peace and strengthening the resulting development momentum, not only the area but also Ethiopia can be led towards prosperity.

He stated that the fundamental demand of the people is for foundational development, the realization of the area's potential, accelerated development, sustainable peace, and strengthened national unity.

He also noted that this aligns with the decisions and directions of the Prosperity Party's congress.
