“The government is focusing on and working towards primary healthcare services” − Dr. Mekdes Daba

A delegation of senior officials from the Ministry of Health, led by Health Minister Dr. Mekdes Daba, has visited the Gurage and Hadiya zones to inspect ongoing activities in the health sector.

During their visit, Health Minister Dr. Mekdes Daba stated that the government is giving attention to and working on primary healthcare services.

The Minister also pointed out that, particularly in Woliso town, institutions providing primary healthcare services are in a good process.

They also mentioned observing a hospital under construction in the city that has not yet been completed, stating that efforts will be made with relevant bodies to ensure its completion and operationalization.

Additionally, they noted visiting the Queen Elleni Mohammed Memorial Comprehensive Specialized Hospital in the Hadiya Zone, which is currently serving numerous local residents.

They confirmed that the efforts made with the hospital’s management to address challenges, including the supply of medicine, have been effective.

They further explained that several improvements have been observed, ranging from ensuring cleanliness in the intensive care unit to other enhancements.

The Minister stated that the Ministry will continue strengthening efforts to create healthy and productive citizens by systematically addressing questions raised by the community and health professionals regarding healthcare services.

On the same occasion, the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) reported that the Ministry of Health handed over one ambulance to the Queen Elleni Mohammed Memorial Comprehensive Specialized Hospital.
