Addis Ababa, February 24, 2025 (FMC) Former Arsenal and Real Madrid player Mesut Ozil has officially joined the world of politics.

 

Mesut Ozil, who played for Europe’s biggest clubs and won the World Cup with the German national team, entered the world of politics by joining the ruling party in Turkey.

 

Ozil, 36, who is of Turkish descent, was criticized for his close relationship with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and withdrew from the German national team in 2018.

 

Sky Sports reported that football legend Mesut Ozil has officially entered Turkish politics and has joined the Central Decision and Management Board of Erdogan's ruling AK Party (AKP).
