"Among Ethiopia's many tourist attractions, the historic city of Harar, surrounded by ancient walls, is a must-see destination. Harar, located in the eastern part of our country, is a city rich in history and culture, surrounded by ancient walls built between the 13th and 16th centuries, revered by Islam. Within the walls are 82 mosques and 102 Islamic holy sites. This makes it one of the places with the highest number of mosques in a given area. 

 

Harar's bustling market and unique architectural style reflect its centuries-old role as a trading center in East Africa. Recognizing its cultural value, UNESCO has listed the city as a World Heritage Site since 2006. Visitors can visit places such as the Arthur Rimbaud Museum, which commemorates the French poet who lived in Harar during his time. 

 

As the sun sets, Harar's famous hyena feeding operation is spectacular.»
