But we preach Christ crucified: 1 Corinthians 1:23.

366 businesses that were not open until 3:30 pm were warned.

Months ago, the Addis Ababa City Administration Cabinet announced that it would implement the night trading law last week, and now we have heard that it has taken action.

The Addis Ababa Trade Bureau, one of the bureaus implementing the law, said that it is conducting a survey on the city's night trading activities.

During the survey, it issued written warnings to 276 businesses that violated the law by closing their shops before 3:30 am when they should have been open for customers.

On the other hand, any commercial establishment or service provider located on the roadside must turn on the external and internal lights of the establishment from 12:00 pm to 12:00 am; the bureau's public relations director, Ato Ashenafi Berhanu, told us that similar action has been taken against 90 traders who intentionally turned off the lights in violation of the law.

The bureau, which was expected to be issued based on the information provided to us recently, had said that it would not impose fines before the implementation guidelines were issued, but now it has imposed fines.

He said that if the commercial establishments that have now received warnings continue with their actions, they will move to the next step, which is a fine.

The head of the city's transport bureau said that similar control is being carried out on transport service providers who are required to work until 4:00 pm by the law. If they do not comply with the law, action will be taken against them.

The office said that the order being implemented also applies to banks. The office is currently conducting door-to-door inspections of commercial establishments; it noted that banks will be required to operate until nighttime when the executive order is issued, and most of them are willing to do so.

We have seen from the order that the time limit does not apply to commercial or service-providing establishments that provide 24-hour service due to their nature of work.
