#Ethiopia The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia has announced that 5.3 trillion birr has been transferred through the bank's digital options in the six months of the current fiscal year.
The bank also stated that currently 79 percent of the bank's money transfer operations are being done through digital options.
Digital banking is an option that allows customers to access services using mobile phones and cards without having to go to a bank branch.
The bank's Digital Banking Division Merchant and Agent Management Director Blaine Hailemichael said the bank has 30 million CBE Birr and 9 million mobile banking users.
They also stated that it has 21 million card banking and more than 4 thousand POS machine users.
They also mentioned that the bank's digital marketing is increasing with these digital options.
Thus, they mentioned that 910 million transactions were made through digital options in the last six months.
He said that 5.3 trillion birr was processed, which is a 90 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
ESA reported that the director said that the bank is working to expand its digital options and provide new digital services.
