Ethiopia could achieve significant success if it focuses on the aviation sector, particularly by engaging its youth, it has been said.

It has been reported that aviation training centers in the country are being utilized by providing training to citizens of other nations.

Experts in the sector suggest that if Ethiopia effectively utilizes the youth trained in various aviation programs, it could produce a large number of skilled professionals and export them to different countries, thereby earning foreign currency.

However, regarding this matter, Henok Negussie, the Managing Director of an aviation company operating in Ethiopia, stated that Ethiopia has not yet fully utilized the sector compared to other countries that are effectively engaging in it.

There are professionals from various African countries who come and serve in Ethiopia in their field of expertise. It is suggested that if Ethiopia works on establishing more training centers, it could train many youths and utilize them in the aviation sector.

Due to the underdevelopment of the industry in Ethiopia, various international organizations are encouraged to come and operate in the country. Henok mentioned that if efforts are made through private or public-private partnerships, it could significantly contribute to job creation and the development of the industry.

Countries like the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and Tunisia are cited as examples where high profits and foreign currency earnings have been achieved through effective utilization of the sector in public-private partnerships.

It has been noted that Ethiopia, by opening its private aviation sector to foreign companies, not only gains economically but also utilizes trained professionals by presenting them to international organizations.
