During the visit, they also met with the founder of the Great Ethiopian Run, legendary athlete Haile Gebrselassie, and held discussions.

Reliable sources, particularly for Hatrick Sport, revealed that the President of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation, Commander Selam Shine, and Vice President Meseret Defar visited the Great Ethiopian Run office yesterday. The Great Ethiopian Run, which has earned the title of Africa's largest road race and celebrated 24 successful years, was the focus of their visit.

The Great Ethiopian Run, recognized internationally as a Label Road Race by World Athletics, has been a symbol of success for the past 24 years. The visit by the federation's top officials aimed to learn from its success and share experiences.

In addition to visiting the Great Ethiopian Run office, the federation's officials also held discussions with its founder and successful athlete, Haile Gebrselassie.

President Selam Shine emphasized, "Athletes who have served the country should not be neglected. They should return home and work together to make athletics more effective." She also urged legendary athlete Haile Gebrselassie to contribute to the development of athletics, stating, "Instead of staying away, come closer and support."

The visit and the call to "support athletics by being close, not distant" greatly pleased the heroic athlete Haile Gebrselassie. He expressed his willingness to support the federation with all his capacity and described the discussions as productive.

Since assuming her role, President Selam Shine has been working on numerous promising initiatives. Learning from the failures of previous administrations, she has been making decisions collaboratively with her executive team, earning widespread admiration.

She has also been calling on athletes to return home and contribute, emphasizing, "We can make athletics effective not by neglecting each other but by working together despite our differences." This approach has delighted many.

In this regard, the new head of Ethiopian Athletics, Commander Selam Shine, also held a fruitful phone conversation with former Vice President of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation, athlete Gezahegne Abera. They discussed the need for collective efforts to improve Ethiopian athletics, emphasizing trust, support, and setting an example for others. Sources, particularly Hatrick, highlighted that her efforts to work alongside former athletes rather than neglect them have earned her widespread praise.

Tomorrow (Sunday), the 42nd International Cross Country race is expected to take place in Janmeda. Sources have confirmed that athletes who had distanced themselves from the federation have been invited to participate with honor and contribute to the prestige of the event.
