Famous comedian Berkeley known by his stage name Filfilu is now recovering from the illness.

Industry to Lead - Hawassa’s Massive Investment and Ethiopia’s Industrial Realignment

In addition to its history as a tourist and cultural destination, Hawassa has also become Africa’s largest solar cell manufacturing hub.

 

Previously dependent on textile production, Hawassa Industrial Park is now undergoing a technological transformation by implementing modern production methods supported by artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. 

 

This transformation has not only driven the 13.2 percent growth seen in the industrial sector, but is also expected to generate more than $1 billion in foreign exchange earnings from solar factories alone next year. 

 

This is 4 to 5 times more than textile production, and has increased the industrial sector’s share of the economic structural transformation by 3 percent. 

 

Ethiopia has a solar power capacity of 20.3 gigawatts, which is four times the capacity of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. 

 

The increase in the share of domestic production to 58 percent through the "Ethiopia Tamert" movement and the resumption of production of 993 factories that had stopped production are a great sign of our country's journey towards breaking free from dependence on imports and exports. 

 

This successful industrial transformation will move Ethiopia towards greater global competitiveness and realize the "Digital Ethiopia 2030" linkage with the industry.
