Nature's Beauty: Gibe Valley National Park

Gibe Valley National Park is one of the national parks in Ethiopia, located in the Gurage Zone of the Central Ethiopian Region. 

 

The park has a total area of ​​360 square kilometers and is divided into 24 kebeles, consisting of the districts of Abeshge, Cheha, and Anor.

 

The park is located 178 kilometers from Addis Ababa on the Jimma road, making it the closest national park to Addis Ababa among the national parks in Ethiopia.

 

The national park takes its name from the Gibe River and its valley. Several rivers flow continuously throughout the day in the national park.

 

One of the unique features of the Luqe Hot Springs Park is that it has 30 to 50 hot springs that keep their place and continuously flow throughout the day. 

 

Dagosa Falls, Acho Falls, Qashqashye Falls, and Derki Falls, along with the sound of their cascading waterfalls, add to the natural beauty. 

 

The park is home to unique indigenous plants and birds and is a great place to see various rare birds. 

 

According to the Central Ethiopia Regional Culture and Tourism Bureau, the park is also home to many hippos and other wild animals.
