President Tilahun Kebede Receives Delegation Led by South Sudanese People’s Representative

President of the Southern Ethiopia Regional State, Tilahun Kebede, received and held talks with a delegation led by George Echom, Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives of South Sudan. 

During the discussion, they discussed ways to strengthen economic ties and development cooperation by strengthening infrastructure, regional peace, and bilateral relations. 

During the discussion, the President noted that there are brotherly communities in the areas bordering Ethiopia and South Sudan that are bound by blood, culture, and history for a long time.

He also said that cooperation should be strengthened and worked together for sustainable peace and development in the region. 

He said that the Ethiopian government is committed to strengthening comprehensive relations with neighboring countries based on the principle of mutual benefit and ensuring mutual sustainable peace and development.

He said that he is working to strengthen the cooperation that has been initiated in the border areas for mutual peace and development and to make the area a trade zone and development corridor. 

He cited the construction of an 80-kilometer road connecting the Southern Ethiopian region to South Sudan and opening it for service as an example. 

The Speaker of the House of People's Representatives of South Sudan, George Echom, for his part, said that South Sudan and Ethiopia have strong bilateral relations. 

He praised the construction of a road that will connect the neighboring communities and promote mutual development of the two countries; he called for such efforts to be strengthened and continued. 

During the discussion, it was agreed to further work together and coordinate on mutual peace and development to increase the benefits of the neighboring communities.
