The performance recorded in the past 10 months indicates that the national target of 1.5 trillion birr can be achieved: Ministry of Revenue

The Ministry of Revenue’s North West Addis Ababa Small Taxpayers’ Office announced that it has collected 3.4 billion birr in the past 10 months.

 

The branch’s General Manager, Kiros Debesu, recalled that the 10-month plan was 2.8 billion; however, it was able to achieve more than the plan by collecting 3.4 billion birr.

 

He also said that the revenue collected in the past 10 months has shown that it is possible to achieve the national target of 1.5 trillion birr in the fiscal year. 

 

He mentioned that the digital system plays a significant role in the efficiency of the tax collection process; he also mentioned that taxpayers are being supported to have an understanding of digital payments and similar services.

 

The Ministry of Revenue is planning to collect 1.5 trillion birr in revenue nationwide in the 2017 budget year; of this, 900 billion birr will be collected by the federal government, according to information from the Ministry of Revenue.
