Ethiopia, US hold talks to strengthen economic and investment cooperation

Ethiopia and the US have held talks to strengthen their economic and investment cooperation. 

State Minister of Finance Semerita Sewasew received John Tomaszewski, Senior Professional Staff Member for African Policy at the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in her office.

The discussion focused on economic cooperation and partnership between Ethiopia and the US, according to information obtained from the Ministry of Finance. 

The State Minister stated that Ethiopia is a strategic partner of the US and highlighted the long-standing and strong cooperation between the two countries. 

The two countries expressed their mutual commitment to strengthen their political and economic cooperation in light of the changing economic landscape in the world.

John Tomaszewski, Senior Professional Staffer for African Policy at the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said that further discussions are needed to expand options for strengthening bilateral economic cooperation between Ethiopia and the US. 

He noted that mutually beneficial and strategically important development cooperation is essential for the continued relationship between the two countries. 

The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen investment and trade cooperation between Ethiopia and the US. 

Increasing US investment flows to Ethiopia was an issue that was emphasized in the discussion.
