Supreme Court says it is working on improving laws and procedures that will be the basis for change

Clients told ETV that the services provided by judicial institutions and courts should be improved.

The clients mentioned that judicial problems, file management, unjustified extension of appointment dates, creating favorable opportunities for the intervention of case managers in cases and other similar problems are the reasons for injustice.

It is known that judicial institutions are among the institutions that are receiving attention and are being worked on in the government's reform program.

What has been the progress of the work that has been started to implement a system that is fair, credible and addresses the problems of good governance? The ABC's New Day show considered it a 'national issue'.

In the past 5 years, work has been done to improve and strengthen laws and procedures that will be the basis for change, Deputy President of the Supreme Court, Ababa Embiale, told ETV.

She also mentioned that the 5-year roadmap focuses on judicial independence, accessibility, and quality of service. 

She said that the reform includes the courts’ ability to set their own budgets and employ their own staff in accordance with the provisions of the constitution. 

In addition, the reform includes the amendment of the disciplinary code focusing on the accountability of judges, strengthening the inspection work at all three levels of courts, auditing of records, and a digital system for users to submit complaints. 

She also noted that training is being provided to understand that legal interpretation and understanding, the ability to make consistent and reasonable decisions on cases, and the appropriateness of legal analysis lead to injustice. 

Although a complaint mechanism has been established for users, there is still a gap in the number of complaints received and the lack of follow-up on the service, he said; since it is up to the community to eliminate corrupt practices, the community should be involved in this process.

The Vice President, who noted that work is still being done to fill the gaps in the reforms being made, said that users can submit their complaints in writing and by mail.
