Harar city has been registered as a member of the world heritage cities

 

#Ethiopia Harar City is the first sub-Saharan city to be registered as a member city of the Organization of World Heritage Cities.

 

At the signing ceremony held in Quebec City, Canada, Harare Region Governor Mr. Ordin signed the registration of Harare City as a member of the World Heritage Cities.

 

The city of Harar has been registered by the Organization of Heritage Cities, which has 115 countries as members, on the French calendar since June 2023.

 

It is stated that the registration of Harar city as one of the world's heritage cities will greatly contribute to the development of cultural and historical heritage and the development of the tourism sector.

 

In addition to this, it is believed that heritage cities will help to overcome challenges and expand opportunities by consulting on their common issues.

 

In addition to being the location of international heritage sites registered by UNESCO, including the Jugel World Heritage Site, Harar City has been recognized by the United Nations Institute of Science, Education and Culture as a city where citizens live in peace, tolerance and togetherness.

 

The signing ceremony was also attended by Ordin Bedri, Head of the Hariri Region, Abdujbar Mohamed, Head of the Regional Development Party Office, Arif Mohamed, Deputy Speaker of the Regional Council, Minister of State for the Democracy Building Center of the Prime Minister's Office, Khalid Alwan.
