Ethiopian Airlines announced that it plans to buy 130 planes

Ethiopian Airlines has announced plans to purchase 130 aircraft to help expand its flight reach.

The Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, Mesbe Tse, spoke with Aviation Daily at the IATA AGM program in Istanbul.

During their stay, they stated that the airline has fully recovered from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

They said that they are currently working to expand the access.

The executive pointed out that it is currently being operated by around 140 aircrafts, and that they believe that the number will be increased to 271 aircrafts by the year 2035.

They indicated that 130 more aircraft will be ordered to achieve this.

He also pointed out that this number may increase as the old planes need to be replaced.

As of June 5, the airline has 29 aircraft, including 17 737 MAX, five 777FS, one 787-9 and six Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.

It is known that the airline has taken delivery of 12 new planes in the current financial year.

It is suggested that the airline, which has 63 international destinations in Africa, will increase the current 20 airports to 27.

The CEO pointed out that the cargo service provided by the airline has contributed greatly to the collection of high revenue.
