Addis Ababa, November ) The Ministry of Health has announced that the work of emergency medical response and the establishment of health facilities in the Tigray region has been strengthened.
Following the conflict in northern Ethiopia, the Ministry of Health and its partner organizations are working to provide humanitarian aid, life-saving treatment, nutrition and access to health services for those in need of medical services.
Regarding the delivery of medicines and medical supplies, it has been stated that life-saving medicines and medical supplies worth 13.5 million birr from the Gondar drug supplier service to Shire branch can be delivered to Shire and nearby cities in various rounds.
Similarly, it is said that it has been possible to deliver life-saving medicines and medical supplies worth 20.5 million birr from the Dese branch to the health facilities in Alamata and the surrounding area.
Anti-malarial, diabetes, kidney dialysis, anti-tuberculosis, anti-blood pressure, reproductive health services, and other life-saving medicines worth 78.8 million birr were sent to Mekele through the World Health Organization and the International Committee of the Red Cross. Delivery is indicated.
It was also noted that the Ministry of Health, through its partner organizations, was able to deliver 158.3 metric tons of life-saving drugs and medical supplies to health facilities in and around Mekele.
Further, it is stated that more life-saving medical supplies are in the process of being delivered.
The ministry said that Mekele and Shire branches are receiving and distributing life-saving drugs and medical supplies in an appropriate manner.
Regarding the implementation of health services, it is said that experts from the Ministry of Health and various hospitals have been sent to the cities of Shire, Axum and Adwa to start medical services and conduct field observations.
Field observation was done at Shire, Axum and Adwa Hospitals as well as nearby health centers.
It was also pointed out that 411 of the 520 workers at Shire Shul Hospital who were there before the war reported to return to work.
It was pointed out that the hospitals were outpatient, inpatient, emergency, as well as laboratory and pharmacy service providers, and they started providing targeted services using the resources sent.
In order to start the work of the health institutions and to organize them with human resources, financial and human resources experts have been sent to the place to deliver support of more than 3.5 million birr to be used for the payment of professionals who have returned to work in three hospitals, namely Bashre, Aksum and Adwa, as well as 15 health centers around them.
It has also been announced that the payment to retired health professionals has started.
It has been stated that the work of reorganizing the health facilities destroyed in the conflict will continue.
