The Minister of Justice, Dr. Gideon Timotios, said that officials suspected of corruption, including the director general of the Financial Security Service, Tewodros Bekelen, were arrested.

This was revealed when the members of the committee made a statement today regarding the official launch of the recently established National Anti-Corruption Committee.

In Addis Ababa, individuals who have been involved in false corruption by pretending to be farmers' children or non-developers have also been identified, said Dr. Gideon Timotios, a member of the National Committee.

It is said that the suspects who committed embezzlement of 175,000 square meters of land and a condominium house, and who were working with individuals and commercial institutions for their personal benefit by using their power in the judicial sector, have also been identified.

The chairman of the national committee and the director general of the National Intelligence and Security Service Ato Temesgen Tiruneh said that the committee has established three sub-committees, namely legal, information and financial sub-committees.

He said that corruption is highly observed in the areas of government privatization, finance and procurement, the justice system and land administration, as well as the provision of basic consumption.

Ato Temeseng said that he is not a thief. He said that strict action will be taken against those who complain from the issue of ID.
