Individuals and institutions that discharged sewage into the river were fined 2 million 3 hundred thousand birr

The Addis Ababa City Administration Regulation Enforcement Authority, in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Authority, announced that it has taken administrative action by imposing fines on organizations and individuals that discharged sewage into the river in accordance with Regulation No. 180/2017.
The authority announced today that it has fined individuals and institutions that discharged sewage into the river 2,300,000 (two million three hundred thousand) birr.
In Kirkos Sub-City, 3 organizations were fined 300,000 (three hundred thousand) birr each, for a total of 900,000 (nine hundred thousand birr) and one individual was fined 100,000 (one hundred thousand) birr, for a total of 1 million birr.
In a news release, it was announced that administrative measures have been taken in Addis Ketema Sub-City, 700 thousand birr in Neifs Selafto Sub-City, and 300 thousand birr in Gulele Sub-City, totaling 2,300,000 (two million three hundred thousand birr).
The authority also urged institutions and individuals to protect themselves from the penalties that will be taken for violating the rules by discharging any type of sewage into the river or dumping solid waste into the river.
The Addis Ababa City Administration Regulation Enforcement Authority announced that the action taken against individuals and institutions that commit the act will continue in accordance with the regulation number 180/2017.
