Peace, growth and prosperity of Africans are unthinkable without police institutions: Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh

Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh launched the 5th East African Police Chiefs Association (EAPCCA) sports competition. 

 

The sports competition will involve police institutions from Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Uganda and Rwanda. 

 

While launching the competition, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen said that Ethiopia is one of the countries that have a special place among Africans; it is also a champion of African freedom. 

 

He noted that the Ethiopian Police has been in existence for 116 years; he said that the reforms carried out in the past 7 years have enabled it to be organized, modernized and perform its duties properly. 

 

The Deputy Prime Minister said that peace, development and prosperity of Africans are unthinkable without police institutions; for this, a strong police force that is numerically balanced, technologically updated and well-trained is necessary. 

 

He also urged that to achieve this, Africans should work together in various alliances at a level that suits Africa and use the knowledge gained over time. 

 

He also said that such sports competitions develop a culture of working together for a common goal and strengthen unity.
