Addis Ababa University Annual Sports Festival Begins

The 2017 Addis Ababa University Sports Festival has begun under the theme "Sports for Comprehensive Personality Development".

The festival will be held from January 22 to February 2/2017 in six competition categories. 

Addis Ababa University Acting President Samuel Kifle (Dr.) noted that the festival, which was restarted after many years in 2016, has shown excellent results.

He stated that more than one thousand students from all campuses, both genders, will participate in this year's competition.

He said that the preparation of the sports festival will make a great contribution to character building and developing solidarity. 

Dr. Samuel conveyed a message to the competitors to compete better by making peace and solidarity the principle, and in a manner full of courtesy and ethics. 

Addis Ababa City Youth and Sports Bureau Head Ato Belay Dejen said that the sports festival that Addis Ababa University has restarted with its independence is a model for other institutions.

Information we received from Addis Ababa University indicates that the festival is crucial for building a generation that is motivated by sports ethics.

The festival will be held in football, volleyball, basketball, athletics, Paralympics and chess, in total, in 6 sports for 11 days with a colorful ceremony.
