The Benishangul Gumuz Region Disaster Risk Management Commission stated that it is working to break free from poverty by producing humanitarian aid for displaced citizens and those seeking support in the region.  

The commission stated that there are more than 40 thousand displaced citizens in the region. He is carrying out the work of cultivating and harvesting crops for these citizens. 

The Commissioner of the Regional Disaster Risk Management Commission, Mr. Mohammad Abdul Aziz, indicated that the commission has been providing humanitarian assistance to displaced citizens and those seeking support in the region by requesting support from the Federal Disaster Risk Management Commission and various non-governmental organizations. 

The commissioner said that there are currently more than forty thousand displaced citizens in the region, based on the country's strategy of self-sufficient production of humanitarian aid. He said that the region is producing different types of crops and now it is in production meeting. 

The commission collected 705 quintals of different types of crops in the first round of crop development work in Aburamo district. 

In the future, it is planned to strengthen the work of self-production to rescue citizens who need humanitarian assistance due to man-made and natural disasters in the region, according to the media and communication director of the commission, Ato Gashaw Shumo.

Ibrahim Sahir, support and monitoring expert of Arsha Development Station, said that the agricultural development work carried out by the Commission has created permanent and temporary jobs for 31 people and more than 250 people.
