#Ethiopia | The Ministry of Education has announced that 176,000 students have registered to take the pre-graduation exit exam, which will be held in the middle of the 2017 Ethiopian calendar year.
Dr. Eba Mijena, the Executive Director of Academic Affairs at the Ministry of Education, explained to Addisu Radio that a total of 176,000 students, including those retaking the exam, are expected to take the exit exam.
Accordingly, the exam will be administered at all universities in Ethiopia, and it has been noted that the Defense University, which is not under the Ministry of Education, will also participate in this program.
In response to a question from Addisu Radio regarding private colleges, the Ministry of Education stated that there is no structure in place to administer exams at private colleges. However, students can take the exam at nearby government institutions.
The exam date was postponed to January 26, 2017, after considering various factors, including the delayed start of the academic year for some universities. It was confirmed that the exam would only proceed after ensuring that these universities had adequate preparation.
Originally scheduled for January 14 and 15, the exam was rescheduled to January 26 due to the uneven start of the academic year across universities.
The Executive Director of Academic Affairs emphasized that bringing a mobile phone or any written material into the exam hall is strictly prohibited. He also advised candidates to bring their identification and arrive at the exam center 30 minutes before the start time. He urged students to remain calm and work diligently, as the exam is based on what they have studied.
Previously, the exit exam for universities was conducted entirely online. This time, it will be administered over five consecutive days, from Monday, January 26, to Friday, January 30.
Once the students' exams are completed, teachers who were undergoing training on Saturday, February 1, will take their exams, as announced by Addisu Radio.
