The Power of Collective Effort
When Nehemiah was troubled by the destruction of Jerusalem, he earnestly prayed for divine assistance to rebuild the city. He sought permission from King Artaxerxes, whom he served, and successfully restored its ruined walls. Despite the opposition from Sanballat and Tobiah, Nehemiah achieved his goal because God inspired him.
In response to the protests from these adversaries, he proclaimed, "The God of heaven will grant us success, and we, His servants, will rise to the challenge. You, however, lack the privilege of remembrance in Jerusalem."
Eight months ago, many of you generously supported St. Michael's Unity Monastery in overcoming the natural and environmental challenges it faced. Your generosity has led to remarkable achievements:
- A maternal residence has been built, providing a safe haven for mothers and children.
- A 170-meter hillside was leveled, making it easier for families to navigate the area, with necessary reinforcements added for safety.
- Solar power has been installed, bringing electricity to a previously underserved region.
- A tax house and canteen have been constructed, equipped with essential materials.
- Initiatives are in place to address the hunger often faced by the monks.
1. The monks have received training in weaving and other skills, and a workshop has been established with the necessary tools.
2. An ancestral granary has been built to support food storage.
3. Sacred shops are currently under construction.
Given the area's frequent droughts, extensive environmental protection efforts are underway. Additionally, underground water has been accessed, and showers and toilets have been constructed for improved sanitation.
When the God of heaven accomplishes these goals, it is a testament to our collective success. May St. Michael bless you for your joyful donations, returning your generosity many times over.
While we celebrate these achievements, much work remains. We encourage you to continue your support for the monasteries and strengthen our community.
May the God who rebuilt Jerusalem in the days of Nehemiah bless us all.
