A New Dawn for the Region: From Dependency to Excellence
***************
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), who described the mid-21st century as a “glorious era” for the entire Africa, said that Ethiopia will continue to be a pioneer in this historic transformation and an engine of growth for the region.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Aisha-2 wind farm, the Prime Minister stressed that Ethiopia’s prosperity cannot be seen in isolation from its neighboring countries and that there is a strong vision of shared growth.
Highlighting Djibouti, which is close to our hearts and pockets, the Prime Minister stated that the close ties with neighboring countries have moved beyond kinship to a relationship like a family, especially in terms of electricity, clean water, rail, air and diplomacy.
The Prime Minister noted that the presence of Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh at the inauguration of the power plant is also a testament to this strong relationship.
In addition to the successful ties that Ethiopia has with Sudan, Kenya and Tanzania in the growing relationship from East Africa to the continental stage, the Prime Minister confirmed that now, in addition to its successful ties with Somalia and South Sudan, it has also begun efforts to strengthen its ties with them through roads and electricity.
The Prime Minister indicated that East Africa will move away from being a beggar and become a donor.
“East Africa has a great potential to become a region that helps rather than begs, lends rather than borrows, and expects rather than expects from others,” he said.
He expressed confidence that if our region, which is equipped with a large market, a large population and a young energy, develops its experience of working together, the middle of the 21st century will undoubtedly be the “African era”.
For this reason, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has announced that Ethiopia is also leading the historic phase of change.
