The Gibe kingdoms were five dynasties that flourished in southwestern Ethiopia from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
The Jimma kingdom, one of the Gibe kingdoms, is historically recorded as the most influential and prosperous of the Gibe kingdoms.
Jimma, one of the oldest Ethiopian cities, has long been in decline, falling short of its former glory and wealth.
But now it seems to be on the rise; its hardworking people are rebuilding it in a way that befits its status.
The historic Jimma is one of the areas where the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) has opened a studio for additional content sources under its "Towards Content" initiative.
Through the studio it has built there, EBC will broadcast the nationalism, good values, history and natural resources of Jimma to all of Ethiopia.
