Ethiopia’s achievements in the agricultural sector are a good example for other African countries: Commissioner Moses Vilakati

The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Girma Amente, received the Commissioner of the African Union Commission for Agriculture, Rural Development, Economic and Sustainable Development, Moses Vilakati, in his office today.

 

During the discussion, the Minister noted that Ethiopia is making tangible changes in the agricultural sector; he explained the achievements recorded in wheat development, leek cultivation and green footprint.

 

He also assured the Commissioner of Ethiopia’s commitment to sharing the best practices recorded in the agricultural sector with other African countries. 

 

He said that Africa should use its development potential in the agricultural sector to ensure our food security and food sovereignty, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. 

 

Commissioner Moses Vilakati, for his part, said that Ethiopia’s achievements in the agricultural sector are a good example for other African countries. 

 

He said that they would like to work with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture on soil fertilization, improved seed multiplication, agricultural digitalization, and soil mapping, including exchange of experiences to ensure Africa’s food security and food sovereignty.
