The Addis Ababa City Administration Industry Development Bureau stated, “Manufacturing institutions are raising questions about the supply of foreign currency, workplaces, and other infrastructure needs.” The bureau acknowledged existing gaps but noted that the city administration is making efforts to address these issues.
This was stated during the opening ceremony of the Ethiopia Addis Ababa Education Exhibition at the Adwa International Convention Center, where Mayor Adanech Abebe emphasized that the city administration is encouraging manufacturing institutions to focus on import substitution products. She explained that necessary financial and other support is being provided for this purpose.
Zhantrar Abay, head of the Addis Ababa City Industry Development Bureau and deputy mayor, affirmed that the government will continue supporting manufacturing institutions. He highlighted that manufacturers are raising concerns about infrastructure and foreign currency supply. Mr. Zhantrar explained that their institution is working diligently to respond to these concerns, but the sector still requires more support.
