The Bale Mountains National Park, Ethiopia’s second-largest natural resource to be inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, was visited by ambassadors and representatives of the African Union.

“Ethiopia is unique and has much to offer the world,” said the British Ambassador to Ethiopia and African Union Representative, Modaren Walek, during the visit.

Appreciating the work the government is doing to develop the sector, he said it is poised to become a globally recognized destination.

Dr. Rita Bissunath, the African Union and UNESCO Representative to Ethiopia, said the place “is a world-class destination.”

The representative added that we will do our part to support UNESCO-listed sites and make them known to the world.

The Romanian Ambassador and African Union Representative Julia Patekia also stated that the tourism sector is crucial for every country.

She also mentioned that the government’s ongoing reforms in the development of the corridor and tourism are a sign of the attention it has given to the sector.

On the other hand, Ethiopia and South Africa, in addition to their membership in BRICS, said that tourism is another sector of their partnership, said Nendobe Belosi, South African Ambassador to Ethiopia and Djibouti and Representative to the African Union.

The Ambassador expressed her happiness at visiting the park, adding that it is worthy of being registered by UNESCO.

It was noted that the tour program organized by the Ministry of Tourism is aimed at encouraging visitors and informing their citizens and improving travel restrictions.
