The constitution and flag of the Southern Ethiopia region was approved

#Ethiopia The constitution and flag of the Southern Ethiopia region, which will be established as the 12th region of the federal government, was approved by a majority vote.

The new Southern Ethiopia Regional Constitution Approval Commission held a meeting in Arba Moyeng city today.

At the meeting, the Southern Regional Justice Office Prosecutor, Brother Abebe, gave a presentation and explanation about the provisions of the constitution and the general legal framework.

According to this, he explained that the constitution was prepared to ensure the people's culture, history and geographical settlement as well as psychological unity, common interest and development.

He also pointed out that the constitution will play a significant role in ensuring access to services by establishing good governance in the region and realizing a system based on equality and fair use.

According to the Prosecutor Brommange, the constitution contains 140 articles.

In it, he explained that the basic principles of people's sovereignty, the supremacy of the constitution, human and democratic rights, the separation of government and religion, as well as the functioning and accountability of the government are clearly stated.

167 members of the approval commission discussed the proposed draft constitution.

The working language of the regional government is Amharic, and the constitution states that zones and special districts in the region can decide their own working language in their respective councils.

The constitution was approved by a majority vote of 155 in favor, 10 against and two abstentions.

The regional flag and emblem were unanimously approved at the conference.

The meeting was attended by the government approval commission, federal, regional and zonal and special district high government officials, elders, religious leaders and other invited guests.
