#Ethiopia He announced that only 16 of the 41 trains of the Addis Ababa light rail service are working.

 

As the chief executive officer of the service, Dr. Birhan Al-Badula, told Gazeta Plus; There were 41 trains when the Addis Ababa light rail was put into operation, but now only 16 trains are in service. 

 

The official said that more than half of the trains are not serviced due to breakdowns.

 

The official said that when the trains break down, there are no maintenance items in the market. He said that to solve the problem, it has been removed from one train and fitted to another.

 

He stated that the lack of permission to use the software of the trains was the main reason for the stopping of the trains.   

 

He explained that reform works have started to put the damaged trains into operation, to provide better rail transport services and to get the sector out of its current stagnation. 

 

He mentioned that one of the issues that have been given attention in the reform is putting the stopped trains into operation. He said that five trains will be put into operation till next June. 

 

He pointed out that the maintenance work of two trains has been completed. He explained that these trains will be operational in the next three days.
