However, it is said that we have not yet reached the capacity to use the technology in areas that have been affected by rain and drought. 

 

It is worth remembering that cloud-enhancing technology was previously imported from the United Arab Emirates. 

 

This is according to the Ethiopian Meteorological Institute. 

 

The institute said that since it is very expensive to use and to enhance clouds in the country, it has not been widely used beyond testing. 

 

The Director General of the Ethiopian Meteorological Institute, Ato Feten Teshome, recalled that the cloud-enhancing experiment in Ethiopia began four years ago. 

 

He also said that according to the weather forecast data issued by the institute, it is being used in areas where rainfall is scarce. 

 

It is worth remembering that there have been droughts in various parts of Ethiopia in the past years. 

 

There are still areas that do not receive adequate rainfall.

The Director General said that many aircraft are needed to use this technology to bring rain to areas affected by drought, but we do not yet have this capacity. 

 

Ato Feten also told us that if an attempt is made to convert clouds into rain in the winter, it will cause severe flooding, so this technology should not be used in the winter.
