It was announced that the city administration is focusing on developing and expanding technologies that help reduce traffic accidents, besides expanding road networks.

The Traffic Management Agency of Addis Ababa City Administration organized the 17th nationally organized traffic accident victims' memorial day at the Black Lion Hospital for the 15th time.

Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa City Administration Mr. Jantarar Abai, who attended the program, stated that besides expanding road networks, the city administration is focusing on developing and expanding technologies that help reduce traffic accidents. He pointed out that the good works started to reduce traffic accidents in the city will continue.

Head of the Addis Ababa City Transport Bureau, Mr. Mtku Asmara, said that we celebrate the day of traffic accident victims mainly to think of our injured people, to prevent those who caused the damage and to establish a procedure to hold the parties responsible for the damage.

An initial article about the impact of traffic accidents on health institutions and professionals was presented to the participants of the panel discussion by Professor Brooke Lapiso Le Merha. The head of the office stated that in order to reduce the deaths caused by accidents, pre-hospitals, especially ambulance vehicles, need to be equipped with medical supplies and deploy trained professionals.

The program included a visit to traffic accident victims who are being treated at the hospital, and the visit will play an important role in our future work by understanding the physical, economic and psychological damage people face after a traffic accident, said the director general of the agency, Ato Kbebew Mideksa.
